Self curing, zinc filled inorganic weldable holding primer.

A weldable inorganic zinc primer, which is both self curing and weldable. Welds made over Carboweld 11 coated steel are equal in every respect to welds joining uncoated steel prior to fabrication.

Weld spatter does not adhere to or damage the coating. Coated steel can be welded as quickly and easily as bare steel without loss in strength or consistency of the weld.

May be top coated with Carbozinc 11 and most conventional paints and coatings.

Chem~Bar™3500 Primer is a single pack steel primer designed for use in industrial and marine applications.

For atmospheric exposures, Chem~Bar 3500™Primer is normally topcoated with Chem~Bar 900™Finish.

 

Chem~Bar 3500™Primer may be:

  • Applied directly over steel or over zinc primers such as Carbozinc® 859 EZ2, Carbozinc® 858, Zinkex 100 or Carbozinc® 11.
  • Used on substrates other than steel, (consult Altex Coatings for specific recommendations.)

Chem~Bar 3500™Primer is used in the commercial marine sector as a:

  • barrier/seal coat over aged or incompatible/unknown antifoulings
  • as a tie coat over suitably prepared, aged epoxy coatings prior to application of the selected Sea~Barrier® antifouling
  • sealant to assist in the prevention of TBT leaching from an underlying antifouling coating - provided it is applied at a minimum dry film thickness of 80 microns (minimum 2 coats by roller).

It is normally overcoated with Sea~Barrier® 1000, 3000 or Sea~Barrier® Alloy 100 PLUS Anti-fouling.

Thermaline Heat Shield

This is an extreme performance coating for hot, cryogenic and cycling exposures. Thermaline Heat Shield contains a unique blend of plate-like reinforcing pigments fortified with an inert polymeric matrix. The resulting film provides an outstanding barrier against corrosives and harsh exposures typically seen in elevated temperature environments. This versatile coating is ideal for all piping, vessels and equipment operating from cryogenic conditions up to 1200°F. It is particularly well suited to prevent corrosion under insulated equipment/piping for both carbon steel substrates and stainless steels. This fortified coating has superior shop handling properties over standard silicone coatings (see Curing). It is recommended for CS-6 and SS-5 systems of NACE SP0198 Standard Practice for coatings to control corrosion under insulation (CUI).
