HISTORY/EXPERIENCE
In 1954, with a small team of people, Altex Coatings began making and selling protective paints to local industrial businesses and the marine industry in Tauranga. Today, with full manufacturing facilities and customer support infrastructure in New Zealand and Australia, along with several distribution centres serving Fiji, Tahiti, Mauritius, Samoa, New Caledonia, American Samoa and Tonga, Altex has grown to be a formidable business, with over 65 employees. Today, we can offer a comprehensive range of industrial coatings, linings and fireproofing solutions.
In 2009, Altex Coatings formed a major alliance with Carboline Inc USA to exclusively manufacture and distribute Carboline Coatings for the New Zealand, Australian and southern Pacific regions, becoming part of a network of 19 Carboline manufacturing plants globally. Altex also manufactures and distributes protective coatings for the marine industry under its Altex Yacht and Boat Paint brand - a well known and highly respected brand in the boating industry. Being ISO 14001 (NZ) registered for Environmental Sustainability sets our performance well apart from our competitors. Our commitment to the environment, the elimination of HAPs (hazardous air pollutants) and the reduction in VOCs (volatile organic compounds) demonstrates our innovation and forward-thinking, as the global effort to use more environmentally friendly products gains momentum.
