Altex Yacht & Boat Paint Epoxy Barrier Undercoat is a high performance, sandable epoxy high build coating which is both very corrosion and water resistant.

Epoxy Barrier Undercoat is recommended for:

• Topside & Superstructure final sealing to provide an optimum surface for finish coating
• As a high build surfacer to remove defects and achieve a finish suitable for application of Altex Polyurethane Undercoat or one of the Elite Polyurethane finish coats
• As a high build barrier coat for below waterline application, used as part of an Altex Antifouling system
• Direct application to sanded GRP, epoxy laminated wood and epoxy sealed wood
• Direct application to epoxy faired surfaces

• Application over Altex Epoxy Primer or Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer
• Priming / undercoating over degreased & sanded aged polyurethanes, epoxies, fairing systems, gelcoats, epoxy laminates & fibreglass

Recommended Uses

Altex Yacht & Boat Epoxy High Build Surfacer is a two component new technology high build epoxy surfacer and profiling compound.

Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer is designed to fill and profile minor imperfections such as found on epoxy glass lay-ups, sanded epoxy fairing compounds, and repair sites on damaged structures.

The recommended maximum dry film thickness per coat is 0.5mm (500 microns).

Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer may be applied by spray or squeegee, or a combination of both.

Altex Yacht & Boat Paint Polyurethane Undercoat is a high performance, sandable undercoat which exhibits a number of significant advantages over existing PUR undercoats.

By combining new technology polyurethane binders, Altex Polyurethane Undercoat features excellent build characteristics & superior water resistance, coupled with low temperature cure & extended pot life. The sanding qualities are second to none.

Polyurethane Undercoat is recommended for:

• Use above the waterline only
• Maximised adhesion when transitioning between epoxy undercoats and the selected polyurethane finish coat - in all marine situations
• Direct application to sanded, aged polyurethane topcoats for “Two step – Two coat” maintenance repaint work
• Exterior topside & superstructure final sealing to provide a fully recoatable surface for extended periods before sanding & finish coating

• Application over all AY&B epoxy systems

• Excellent build tolerance up to 100µm DFT in a two pass application
• Superior sanding properties
• Wide maximum over coating times for easy project management

Altex Yacht & Boat Surfacer Undercoat is designed for use in above water areas only.

It can be used:

• As a surfacing and build coat in the Single Component topsides marine paint system.
• As an adhesion/surfacing coat directly to suitably prepared fibre-glass gel-coat.
• Direct to suitably prepared and sealed timber for cabin interiors.
• As a tie coat and upgrade on existing sound enamel finishes after correct preparation
