Altex Epoxy Barrier Undercoat is a high performance, sandable epoxy high build coating based on new technology Phenalkamide hybrid resins, which offers both superior corrosion and water resistance.
This new epoxy undercoat offers both the DIY and Professional applicator an easy-to-use product with a diverse range of uses and benefits.
AY&B Epoxy Barrier Undercoat is recommended for:

• Topside & Superstructure final sealing to provide an optimum surface for finish coating
• As a high build surfacer to remove defects and achieve a finish suitable for application of AY&B Polyurethane Undercoat or one of the Elite Polyurethane finish coats
• As a high build barrier coat for below waterline application, used as part of an Altex Antifouling system
• Direct application to sanded GRP, epoxy laminated wood and epoxy sealed wood, aged polyurethane, and epoxy coatings
• Direct application to epoxy faired surfaces
• Application over AY&B Epoxy Primer or AY&B Epoxy High Build Surfacer

Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer is a two-component new technology high build epoxy surfacer and profiling compound.
AY&B Epoxy High Build Surfacer is designed to fill and profile minor imperfections such as found on epoxy glass lay-ups, sanded epoxy fairing compounds, and repair sites on damaged structures.
The recommended maximum dry film thickness per coat is 0.5mm (500 microns).
Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer may be applied by spray or squeegee, or a combination of both.
Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer is suitable for service above and below water however in immersion service a full epoxy barrier system should be applied over the sanded Altex Epoxy High Build Surfacer.

Altex Polyurethane Undercoat is a high performance, sandable undercoat which exhibits a number of significant advantages over existing polyurethane undercoats.
By combining new technology polyurethane binders, AY&B Polyurethane Undercoat features excellent build characteristics & superior water resistance, coupled with low temperature cure & extended pot life.
The sanding qualities are second to none - providing both the DIY user and the Professional applicator with an optimised product for all new and maintenance repaint work.

• Excellent build tolerance up to 100μm DFT in a two pass application
• Superior sanding properties
• Excellent water barrier properties
• Improved film strength over competitors – neither brittle nor soft
• Wide maximum over coating times for easy project management
• AY&B Polyurethane Undercoat may be top-coated with either acrylic or polyester urethane finishes and is especially formulated as an undercoat or sealer under AY&B Elite polyurethane finish coats
• May be applied as a thin film (50μm DFT) tie/seal coat, or as a higher build undercoat (100μm) applied in two wet-on-tack passes
• Surface tolerance and excellent adhesion to a wide range of suitably prepared and / or primed substrates

Altex Surfacer Undercoat is designed for use in above water areas only.
It can be used:

• As a surfacing and build coat in the Single Component topsides marine paint system.
• As an adhesion/surfacing coat directly to suitably prepared fibre-glass gel-coat.
• Direct to suitably prepared and sealed timber for cabin interiors.
• As a tie coat and upgrade on existing sound enamel finishes after correct preparation
